Description:
In this black and white photograph a boy and a white-haired woman sit on stone steps with a light colored dog sitting between them. The boy has one arm around the dog's neck and is pushing his nose with the other hand, perhaps trying to get the dog to face the camera. The boy is looking at the dog and the woman is looking at the boy and the dog. Behind the people at the top of the steps is an artistic openwork wood fence surmounted by a wooden trellis/gate reminiscent of a Japanese torii. The boy is James Mayers, the woman is his grandmother, Mabel Wilson Laurence, and the dog is Jack.
