A young man, Robert Airey, in his seaman's uniform, photographed from above and visible from the chest up. He wear the traditional sailor hat and has a dark middy top. Faint penciling on the back of the photograph says 1941. Robert has a very short haircut, no sideburns, is squinting against the sun and has a faint smile. An unidentified object protrudes from his left pocket.
