A young man, Robert Airey, in his US Navy sailor's uniform, wearing his hat on the back of his head. He is photographed in a closeup shot with just his upper body showing. The background is a venetian blind made of wooden slats with cotton straps. The uniform seems to be the usual navy blue with a middy blouse top. He has 2 stripes on the cuff showing on his left arm, and a white stripe on the shoulder. He wears a heavy ID-type bracelet on the visible hand, and above it, near the collar is a small military ribbon.
