Description:
B&W photo shows the beginning of a swimming race contest. A group of eager swimmers, male and female, lean into the water's edge, taking their first steps into the ocean. There is a semicircular crowd assembled along the beach to watch. There is a pole strung with rope and flags -the finish line - on the right side of the photo. One older, white-haired, barefoot man is semi leaning against it. In the background is the outline of Bolinas.
