Description:
Photograph of houses on the hills taken 1920s. The 2 story house on the ocean side of the Buena Vista Way (now 125 Buena Vista) is the one belonged to Lyman Beacher DeCamp. He and his wife, Mary Frances, purchased the lot on 1907, a year after Nathan Stinson subdivided his land on the hill in 1906. He moved his family there in 1910 when he retired.
Notes:
Lyman Beacher DeCamp was instrumental in puting Stinson Beach name on the town in 1916 which was known as the Willow Camp. It took him 3 years of going back and forth cutting the red tape. He had a help from the congress man, William Kent. He changed the mail rout from San Rafael-Bolinas-Stinson to Sausalito-Stinson- Bolinas. The road had to be improved to acomplish this. His 2nd daughter, Louise, was the first postmistless. In 1922 his first daughter, Alice DeCamp Alger becam the 2nd postmistress. He was the first Stinson Beach School board.
