6 1/2 x 4 1/2 in size, written on back by Cohen, "Capt. Easkcott's(sic.) House from the Beach # 1850" Stamped, PHOTOGRAPH, space, EDGAR A, COHEN, Alameda, Cal.
The photograph shows Capt. A.D. Easkoot's house built in 1883 under pine trees to left, barn to right, two cows in front field, grape stake fence to right of the field which continues up the hill from the back of the barn. In background are Stinson Beach hills without any structures. Another fence runs in front of the house at the approximate location of present Highway 1, which did not exist then. The house was burned in 1976 and rebuilt since with a similar structure attached to the back.
