Description:
This black and white photograph is of a one story building on the beach with crenelation on the roof like a castle. There is a towerlike protusion at the near end on the left. The building is on pilings above the sand and the space between the pilings at the front of the building is fililled whith vertical bars forming a sort of grating. In the sky above the building are white concentric circles and a white vertical stripe which appears close to the center of the circles. It is not know what made these figures. The circles look like sky writing but the vertical stripe is a mystery. (See notes)

This building was built by Frank W. Epperson, inventor of the popsicle. Located on the beach between Calle del Pradero and Calle del Pinos it has been known by the names of #1 Pacific Ocean, Star of the Sun and most commonly The Sand Castle.
