Description:
This faded, damaged black and white photograph shows a jeep type vehicle with spoked wheels towing an aeroplane on which side panel has painted sign: The Economy Aeroplane, next line illegible, Sellmer, and next few lines illegible. The plane is on diagonal on its wheels and the tail resting on the back of vehicle. The wings are folded and swing on top of the plane parallel to its body. The driver of the vehicle (J P Sellmer) has moustache and wears a workman's cap. The hill with vegetation is in background. Its back caption written in ball-point pen reads: 1926 J P Sellmer Towing the "Economy Aeroplane".

Provenance:
Dale Kelley who owned this series of photographs originally was an old client of Albert Engel and entrusted the photographs to him who in turn donated this series, 2010-103, to SBHS in 2010. Dale Kelley owned the ocean front house at Calle Del Ribera and was a friend of Sellmers who had their factory and residence on the same street. The photographs were rescued from the house after the storm and flood of 1982-83.
