Description:
Black and white photo of a scene from the play "Mysterious Doings in Rinso Bleach", subtitled or "Gossip's Gonna Getcha If You Don't Watch Out," by John Grissim. The photo shows inside entry counter of a bar with one man (building department inspector) gesturing toward the ceiling to the man beside him. A Japanese fish flag hangs on a pole to right behind the bar. One well dressed lady in hat (Hillary Raymond), two long-haired men (Bruce Roush with folded newspaper in his hands dressed in Hawaiian shirt, jeans and jacket; Greg Smith one hand raised as if to describe the distant view or object, other hand holding a thick magazine titled OOM) stand in foreground. Greg has his long hair in pony-tail, and wears jeans and shirt with a leather jacket on top. There are two people talking in other side of the counter and a large poster of a building is on the wall.

Notes:
"Mysterious Doings in Rinso Bleach" was put on by teenager children of Stinson Beach Rec. Center located at the present Avilla's Barn where surf shop is. (3448 Shoreline Hwy). Probably, all or part of Three Fat Sisters direction. The show was held at "The Red Whale" restaurant at the night time in front of big enthusiastic town audiences. The building started as the surfer club in 1940s was quite run down and changed hands becoming the Latitude 38 Bar. It was later torn down to make the room for the Stinson Beach County Water District building.
The cabaret style play was full of what was going on in Stinson Beach (Rinso Bleach) in comical satires including identifiable town hippies, Seadrifters and residents. Probably because of it, John Grissim, the writer, never wanted to get the deserved credit nor replay it. (TA)
