This is a black and white photo taken at the water's edge. There are 6 girls in bathing suits and swim caps lined up ready to start the race. At the right of the picture standing on the wet sand and with his back to us is a man in slacks, patterned shirt, saddle shoes and a brimmed hat with his hands on his hips. Farther away and facing us are several people in beach attire standing in shallow water and on the beach to watch the race.
