Organizations - Allied Arts :

For over 50 years Stinson Beach Allied Arts was a vital part of our community. It was founded in 1946 with 37 charter members, its purpose "to stimulate, promote and support creative activities in Stinson Beach and to support in every way the aims, endeavors and goals of the Stinson Beach Community Center, Inc." Members worked hard for civic improvements for our town and focused on creating what is now our Community Center complex. In addition, they offered financial support to many cultural, health, welfare and educational organizations in Marin County, including Stinson Beach Montessori School, West Marin Community Chorus, West Marin Health Alliance, Senior Services and Hospice of Marin. Fundraising efforts were supported by their famous Annual Rummage Sale and Christmas Bazaar. Their Wildflower Shows became so famous they outgrew the town and moved to the Oakland Museum, where they are still held annually on Mother's Day weekend. Allied Arts held their last meeting in May 2000 and signaled the passing of a generation.
